Event Details

Learn how to use basic coding to create images and understand data, discover interactive space kits from the NISE network, and blast off to fun in SMALLab.

Using data from NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory and other satellites on exploded stars, star-forming regions, and black holes, you'll learn basic coding...no previous experience needed! You will see just how integral coding is in the pursuit of learning about our Universe. It's an example of the exciting ways that computer science is both part of routine tasks in our everyday lives and part of the exciting quest to explore the cosmos. Experience real world application of science, technology and even art!

We'll continue to explore the universe with our brand-new Earth & Space kits from the National Informal Stem Education (NISE) Network with a plethora of activities to inspire all the future astronauts and scientists in your family. End the day playing in space during our SMALLab session from 12-1 p.m. All activities appropriate for a wide range of ages.

This event supported by NASA's Universe of Learning, in partnership with Smithsonian Affiliations.
