In the spirit of the jolly holiday please join us for our annual Gingerbread House Competition. Please register now for your chance to win!
Event Details
All proceeds go toward Studer Community Institute's Early Learning division.
This year, our contest is open to adults only, 18+. Your ticket number is your entry number so hold on to it!
On Saturday, December 12 you are in for a treat!
Drop off your Gingerbread House at the SCI Building, 220 W Garden St, from 8 am - 10 am.
Festivities start promptly at 10 am! This includes games on the plaza, the Emerald Coast Honors Orcherstra, refreshments and much more!
The winner of the Gingerbread House Competition will be announced at 4 pm.
The houses will remain at the SCI Building the week of Monday, December, 14 for display!
Please review the following rules and guidelines:
• DESIGN AND SIZE
The structure may not exceed 18 inches high, 16 inches wide, and 24 inches long. Entry must be placed on a board base. We suggest using 1⁄2” plywood as your base. If you would like to install “legs” on the bottom of your base, they will be considered part of your base and should not cause the entry’s height to exceed 24 inches. The use of pegs or risers as legs is preferred, but not required, to help in the transportation of the entry.
• MATERIALS AND CONSTRUCTION
The main structure should be constructed of at least 50% gingerbread, some of which should be exposed. The use of gum paste, fondant, modeling chocolate, royal icing, Isomaltose, cast sugar, gelatin and pressed sugar is highly encouraged. Do not use anything on the entry that needs refrigeration. The use of battery-powered electrics and non-edible materials is allowed.
