TALLAHASSEE POLICE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR “DEFY”

Event Details

The Drug Education For Youth (DEFY) Program is a prevention program for kids ages 9-12. DEFY aims to deter "at risk" behaviors by giving kids the tools they need to resist drugs and develop positive social skills. The leadership and life skills training provided by DEFY include: goal-setting, team building, conflict resolution, gang resistance and decision making.

This program is a structured 5-day non-residential camp from, July 15-19, 2019. It is held at Florida A& M University's Army ROTC Facility. DEFY youth participate in classroom activities, physical fitness and educational field trips. The participants will interact with adult mentors who are sworn police officers with the Tallahassee Police Department.

There is no cost to participate, however the youth must be a resident of Tallahassee and between the ages of 9-12. The deadline to apply is July 5, 2019. Space is limited and they fill up fast.

Applications can be found on Talgov.com/DEFY
